Another Day On The American Frontier?

Earlier this week.  It was reported that a student had brought a gun to school, when a teacher tried to stop him, the student shot and killed him.  The student eventually turned the gun on himself.

The story has since fell off the media radar, which makes me wonder why.   Now it will be interested to see what the "insurrectionists" who work with me have to say, if anything, on this.  And that could be a subject for another post.

Is there a threshold for a story to really pique the media's interes?   Do a certain number of people have to be killed, or the incident occur in a certain place.  If this shooting had occurred at a grocery store, a concert, or involved more than say 10 people would the media stand up and take notice?

Or is it possible that the media has become numb to these.  Another shooting at a school, another shooting period, another day in America.  If this be the case, then the NRA has to be pleased.  A lack of outrage means that they can continue to argue that the solution is "more guns".  A solution that means more sales for the manufacturers that they, in reality, represent.

This shooting should be  an example of the "daily toll" that groups working for a firearms policy designed to put America more in line with the 1st World need to be focusing on.   I have to say that Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and Mom's Demand Action have sent a good amount of tweets on this subject, but tweets are not going to stop the next shooting from happening.  Legislation will!
