The Troll Patrol

I would be amiss if I didn't take a moment to mention the arrest of George Zimmerman.  I can't help but think that Zimmerman either thinks he's above the law, or that he has anger issues that a background check may have brought up.  He's also a great example of the type of person that the insurrectionists hold up as a hero.

Of course, the Zimmerman arrest has brought up another example of what might be called "guntrolls".  They're people who troll the Twitter accounts of groups like the Coalition To Stop Gun Violence or Moms Demand Action or individuals like Piers Morgan, CNN host and critic of America's firearms policy.

Why do they do this.  I think a lot of it has to do with fear, either on their own or coming from the National Rifle Association or other insurgent groups.  If they can't intimidate advocates of sane firearms policy the way the "open carry" advocates in Texas did at the meeting of Mom's Demand Action, they will take the fight to the net.

Of course, what does that fear say about the groups that are behind this virtual front of the American Insurgency?  Perhaps that they don't have the support that they think they do.  The echo chamber of right-wing radio and it's cable news channel may be giving the trolls the impression that they are louder than they are.  As people see the daily toll of the American Culture of guns; Tuscon, Aurora, Sanford, Newtown, Los Angeles, etc, the cries for a sensible firearms policy grow louder.

So how does one handle these virtual villains.  You can ignore them and hope they go away, or let them talk and let them show themselves as the knuckle-draggers they are!
