Raising Our Voices!

"Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed. . . "
Gospel of Luke

The Newtown Shooting was, to me, not a wake-up call.  As I have stated before, Newtown was the final straw in a series of shootings that may have begun in Tuscon, Arizona.

The voices of those who advocate for reasonable firearms policies has only gotten louder as we hear of more and more shootings and violence.  The recent alliance between Moms Demand Action and Mayors Against Illegal Guns is only going to give advocates for "gunsense" a louder voice.

The issue is that Congress doesn't seem to be as willing to listen.  The voices of the insurrectionists of the NRA seems louder, though their message sounds shrill to many.  It may be more a case of manufacturers money speaking louder than that of the public.  Alliances between advocates for magazine limits, etc and groups like Move To Amend, that work against the power of corporations. Depending on how the Supreme Court rules the power of the wealthy may only grow.

But I don't see the voices of gunsense being silenced.  I do feel that many advocates though need to realize that this is not a sprint, but a marathon.
