Only The First

It took 18 days for Harrisburg to count it's first homicide, and to no ones surprise, it was a shooting.  The victim was an 18 year-old high school student amd member of the Steelton-Highspire basketball team was on a porch.

The young man's Grandfather may have summed up not only life in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, but life in general on the "Urban Frontier", "It's like we're being held hostage in our own city. . . . "

So the question is, how to break the siege.  The National Rifle Association would likely say "More guns!".  Helpful to the manufacturers that they rely on for so much of the funds, but of little comfort to the familes of the victims.

Heeding Gods Call, as they do for every shooting in Harrisburg, will have a vigil.  But vigils are not enough, there must be an effort to reach to the halls of power in both the city and the State.

One homicide should not be seen as a beginning, it should be seen as one too many!
