In the first three week of 2014 there have been shootings reported at a high school in Philadelphia, South Carolina State University, and yesterday, January 25, a mall in Maryland.
While the shootings in Philadelphia and Maryland were close to Harrisburg, PA, I can't help but wonder if any, or all three could happen in my area.
Of the three scenarios, a mall shooting is probably the most likely. The Harrisburg Mall is close to the urban center. It would not even need to be at a mall, a plaza or even a strip mall could be the site for a shooting.
Harrisburg High School, Steelton-Highspire, or even a high school in Perry County would be the second likley place for a shooting. An argument between two students, or even a bad grade, could spark a student to buy. or take a weapon.
Harrisburg Area Community College, Penn State Harrisburg or York, or even one of the career schools is perhaps the least likley place for a shooting. But anything could happen.
But what would the response be? From the insurgents and insurrectionists of the mobile estates, the response would be what always is, "More Guns"! But would such an incident be enough to spark an effort in Pennsylvania to change laws.
If the insurrectionists that I work with are any indication, the answer is no.
